Safety: Our Top Priority

Underground construction presents inherent risks, but at Precision Pipeline Services, our commitment to safety is unwavering.

We adhere to all relevant regulations and best practices to ensure the well-being of our workforce and provide reassurance to visitors to our job sites. Working safely is a condition of employment.

Core Safety Principles

FOUNDATIONAL SAFETY PILLARS

Risk Assessment & Hazard Identification

Crews utilize a Job Safety Analysis each morning to assess their job site for hazards and implement proper controls

Competent Personnel

We provide trained and experienced personnel, with skills and certifications in most underground applications (e.g. confined space entry, trenching, shoring, fall protection and hot work)

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Precision Pipeline's PPE standards are followed, with baseline requirements including a hard hat, safety glasses, class 3 vest, gloves, and safety-toed boots

Administrative Controls

Structured work procedures, permit systems, lockout/tagout procedures, emergency response plans, and regular safety meetings are paramount

Engineering Controls

Understanding that PPE is the last line of defense, our crews leverage various engineering controls such as trench protection, site barricades, and hole plates

Emergency Preparedness

First-aid stations, and evacuation procedures, including assembly points, communication systems, and rescue plans, are established

Underground Key Hazard Areas

Addressing Specific Underground Risks

Underground construction presents unique and often complex challenges. The very nature of working below the surface introduces inherent risks, from ground instability and potential collapses to confined spaces and the presence of utilities.  These risks demand meticulous planning, specialized training, and constant vigilance to ensure the safety of workers and the surrounding environment.

Examples include:

  • Ground Stability & Cave-ins
  • Confined Space Entry
  • Air Quality & Ventilation
  • Excavation & Trenching
  • Electrical Safety
  • Equipment Operation & Maintenance
  • Fire Prevention & Suppression
  • Falling Hazards & Fall Protection
  • Noise and Vibration
  • Utility Locating
